Many in the computer industry blame a poor economy on the lack of computer hardware coming out during the past year. Although it was a slow year, the Apple iPad stands out as one of the devices that made people stand up and take notice.

With a bigger screen, and more reliable features, the iPad was one of the true successes in the world of technology during the year 2010. It’s sales success proved that customers absolutely loved the product. You wouldn’t think of the iPad as a phone, but many have made comparisons to the smart phone, with oh so many advantages. The device can be used for e-books, games, web-browsing and to listen to music. Still a bit pricey, the Apple iPad could have a big 2011 as prices come down.

While new hardware technology for laptop computers wasn’t exactly eye-popping, many consumers ventured into the world of laptops in 2011 and came away pleasantly surprised with their options. The ASUS A52F-X3 is priced at under $600 and offers a number of features that are hard to beat considering the price. Equipped with an Intel Core i3-350M dual core process, the laptop offers 4GB of memory, comparable to other models that are priced higher. Looking for something a little cheaper? The HP G42-240US is a bit smaller of a system that comes at a slightly cheaper price.

Samsung also had a good year in the field of digital camcorders. As technology improves so do color options. The SMX-F50, F53 and F54 are the latest releases in the family of camcorders. Great zoom capabilities that now come in your choice of blue, red, black and silver.
As the economy improves, and it shows signs of doing just that, 2011 could be a big year for new hardware technologies ready just in time for the Holiday season.
