Are you website designer looking for additional income, or perhaps all your friends and family have been asking your for years to teach them your craft? Due to the surge in popularity of the Internet, many people want to enter the world of digital design as either a hobby or for a potential career, and a good number of them want to take classes in this subject.
This has resulted in a demand for teachers who can offer these classes. However, these instructors need to be able to deliver current content as part of the class. This will help students gain the skills that will make them marketable or simply make their personal web design experience successful.
Here are a few tips to design a course on web design:
Decide which component of web design you are going to teach. Because creating websites includes many parts including programming, design, and so on, time constraints come into play and you need to decide what you want to teach and in what logical order.
Make sure you understand your students. You need to understand their learning level, average age, average past education, and basic experience. You don’t want to teach at too high of a level to or too low of a level to your students.
Determine how you want to present your coursework. Do you want to actually stand in front of a class or do you want to deliver your information over the Internet? Or how about developing an interactive CD?
Determine your course objective. Is it a simple HTML class or an advanced Java scripting class?
Create and assemble your materials so that you are prepared to teach your class. This will also help you decide which other materials you may need to use such as additional reading material, workbooks, and so on. You may find yourself creating original material as well.
