As you watch the two giants of the millennium converse together over bowls of chow mein and pork fried rice, just note that what you are about to read are just predictions. They might happen. However, this particular writer may believe that Nostradamus would giggle with glee if the following actually does happen.

To be plain, the golden nugget of digital media has exploded time and time again in the Internet market to the point that burn marks show up on our fingernails from typing on the keyboard. There’s no stopping it! It keeps growing and growing—Facebook this, Facebook that, Twitter about your MySpace and LinkedIn content until your charred fingernails fall off! So everyone is aching to see how digital media will measure up in 2011. Here are two predictions:

Prediction One: Digital Media Player Technology Will Merge With Every Major Television

Just think of the scope of that one. Imagine your TV literally doing everything that your computer can do regarding digital media—from playing stored music playlists to streaming video and photos. It’s basically putting your Windows Media Player on your flat-screen TV! All of that without any digital media player hooked into it, too. Your HDTV will do it all without any extra cables or converter boxes, all done wireless and with blazing speed. Now that’s a prediction.

Prediction Two: Portability and Storage Capacity Will Grow in Current Players

Now that might seem like not such a big deal, but think about it: it is. And you thought carrying around the iPod was convenient! Try installing one simple memory card into a port that may exist in this near future that will allow the iPod to not only play music but also play Blu-ray files with ease. Tiny media devices will have the ability to hook into a TV and have your whole movie collection at your fingertips.

Again, just predictions. But this gambler goes all in with the chips on them.
